Gifted & Talented Education (GATE)

In grade school (Lincoln - Cupertino, CA) I was part of the GATE program. Sounds like something from LOST, huh?

"Gifted education (also known as Gifted and Talented Education (GATE), Talented and Gifted (TAG), or G/T) is a broad term for special practices, procedures and theories used in the education of children who have been identified as gifted or talented" - whatever that means. ;]

In true geek form I was in my Junior High Chess Club at Kennedy Junior High (Cupertino, CA). This helped me in my understanding of strategy, thinking multiple steps ahead and patience. At Kennedy I was also enrolled in the so-called Super Six, where my classmates and I attended Junior High one year before most kids.

At Kennedy I started my introduction to computer programming with BASIC and LOGO (yea, the one with the little turtle). I definitely do not miss the black and white, amber or green monitors.
